have to say - pretty good crowd...

we just finished playing our second 'battle of the bands'-type show in two weeks. this time it was an event put on by local campus radio station cjsr, at the victory lounge, right downstairs from where we had so much fun playing earlier this month, the starlite.

well, the show started two hours later than we were told it would start, the sets were shorter than we were told they'd be, there was practically no one there, and those who were there (which was pretty much just the other bands) were jerks. the band who played right after us was a pretty cool pseudo-punk band (who were also heckled on stage like us), but the other two were, to use a ryan-ism, prickish. you'd think in a town like edmonton, with a music scene as small and lame as it is, that local musicians would band together and give each other all the help they can get, or at least try and be supportive of each other. that ain't the way it is, and it's sad. i guess that's why we enjoyed meeting the matchstix at the supernova show so much. nice bands with cool, friendly members are so rare that when you meet one, it leaves a big impression.

on this night the biggest applause we got was from the golf video game machine at the side of the stage.

all bitching aside, we still had a blast during our performance, and enjoyed the opportunity to play that cjsr gave us and other local bands. we had fun. we hope to continue pissing off cannibal corpse wannabes for many years to come.

Rilly big shew, rilly big...

We played one of our best ever shows Tuesday night at the Starlite Room (the old Rev). It was an all-ages battle of the bands... I felt very tired and uptight until the 3rd song (also distracted). HFS it was HOT on stage! We were sweating like proverbial pigs. I thought the pink lights looked especially nice reflected on the keyboard, but of course I was the only one who got to see how nice that looked. Apparently we sounded great and put on an excellent performance, and that was from more than just our in-crowd. Kids were coming up afterwards saying "You guys rocked!". Synth bands can rock? I suspected as much.
